Beautiful Me
My skin is different of that I'm sure
It does not look the same as yours
My eyes are dark like the starry night
While yours are pale like a pool of light
I told my mother my wish one night
I wished my skin was nice and light
She smiled and said, Now that won't do,
For how would the world look without you?
We are all different in our own special way
Bringing to this world something new every day
Think of the rainbow high in the sky
A beautiful sight, can you tell me why?
Yes! it's the colors that make it so grand
Colors like you, do you understand?
The world wouldn't be such a wonderful place
If everyone had the same sort of face
So think of what I've said to you
And know that you are beautiful too
Then mommy gave me a kiss goodnight
And quietly turned off the bedroom light
I curled up real tight all snug in my bed
And thought about what my mommy had said
The world is a colorful place indeed
With all kinds of people like you and me
And with a smile on my face
I finally see.....
Beautiful me.......Beautiful me.
Challenge Day 21
This poem is a one in a series of poems for the month of April. I am currently involved in two writing challenges, and like a fool or a genius, you decide....... I combined the two challenges. I am attempting to write a poem a day ~ with the corresponding letter of the day. On Sunday, however, I do not need to comply with the A to Z rule and I'm free to write my poem without restrictions. I've now past the halfway point, but it's definitely getting harder and harder.
1. A to Z Challenge: Blog each day with the corresponding letter of the day, except on Sunday
2. NaPoWriMo: Write a poem a day
I'm speechless.
